Warm rocks under your back, and the sun leaving red
imprints on your eyes
The smell of freshly mown grass on a summer breeze
The taste that chocolate leaves in your mouth after a good
meal, at midnight
Soft blankets on a winter Sunday, and slivers of light
And boys who wrap their arms around you, and carefully mess
up their hair.
Old books with worn covers, that you read when you were
eleven
And you still remember the feeling that each word gave you.
Meandering afternoons, where time stops for a few precious
hours,
And everything feels within reach
Tired kisses that miss their mark, in the moment before you
fall asleep.
Your first favourite song, replayed from fading memories
and forgotten beliefs
And you find torn up band posters at the bottom of your
closet with your oldest
pair of heels
Rushing out of the airport, pausing to take in your city at
night
Coming home.
His cologne lingers on your skin, and you breathe it in as
you turn out the light.
